Two N.J. women have been missing for weeks, cops and family say
Authorities in multiple counties in northern New Jersey continue to search for two women who have been missing for more than two weeks.
Imani Glover and Destiny Owens, who are dating, were reported missing out of Morristown and East Orange, respectively.
Glover, 25, is 5-foot-3, about 160 pounds, with a tattoo on her left wrist with the word Shanita, Newark police said. She has a light complexion, black hair and brown eyes. The Morristown resident was last seen at Jimmy Jazz Shoe Store on West 125 Street in Manhattan on Jan. 4 and was reported missing to Morristown police four days later.
Owens, 29, was last seen in Newark on December 24, 2022, according to East Orange police.
A Newark police spokeswoman said Thursday they are assisting East Orange police in the search for Owens, an East Orange resident who is is 5-foot-6, about 130 pounds, with long braids and brown eyes. Owens was last seen on Dec. 24, an East Orange police spokeswoman said.
Neither woman has their cell phone with them, Owens mother, Tamika Owens, said in a brief phone interview Thursday.
She said she last saw her daughter on Christmas Eve, when she gave her a ride, and last had contact with her a few days later when Destiny wished her mom a happy new year.
Im very concerned and worried, Tamika Owens said. Glover and her daughter have been a couple for about two years but in recent months have become inseparable, the mother said.
Family and friends are organizing a search through downtown Newark on Saturday, because the women have been known to frequent the area. The group will convene at 1 p.m. at a parking lot on Halsey Street, between Brandford Street and William Place, and spend the afternoon handing out flyers, Tamika Owens said.
If anyone wants to come out, I really appreciate any and all help, she said.
