Market ends Samvat 2079 in green, extends gains in second week

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their selling as they sold equities worth Rs 3,105.27 crore, meanwhile domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 4,155.23 crore.

The Indian equity indices ended the last week of Samvat 2079 on a positive note and extended the gaining streak for the second consecutive week ended November 10 amid volatility due to ease in US treasury yields, falling crude oil prices and Fed chair’s comments on rate hike going ahead.

In this week, BSE Sensex gained 0.84 percent or 540.9 points to close at 64,904.68, while Nifty50 rose 194.75 points or 1 percent to close at 19,425.35.

BSE Mid-cap Index gained 2.6 percent led by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Aurobindo Pharma, Alkem Laboratories, Aarti Industries, Power Finance Corporation, Solar Industries India and UNO Minda, while losers were Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Piramal Enterprises, Muthoot Finance, Indian Bank and Shriram Finance.

BSE Mid-cap Index gained 2.6 percent, led by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Aurobindo Pharma, Alkem Laboratories, Aarti Industries, Power Finance Corporation, Solar Industries India and UNO Minda, while losers were Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Piramal Enterprises, Muthoot Finance, Indian Bank and Shriram Finance.

The BSE Small-cap index added 2 percent with Neuland Laboratories, IFGL Refractories, CarTrade Tech, Apollo Micro Systems, Ador Welding, Jaiprakash Power Ventures, Sasta Sundar Ventures, Tracxn Technologies, Techno Electric & Engineering Company, Arihant Superstructures and KPI Green Energy added between 20-40 percent. On the other hand, Gujarat Themis Biosyn, Navneet Education, Best Agrolife, GOCL Corporation, Elin Electronics, Krsnaa Diagnostics, MTAR Technologies, Vascon Engineers, Pricol, Sadhana Nitrochem, Mishra Dhatu Nigam, Renaissance Global and Omaxe lost 10-17 percent.

In terms of the market value, Larsen & Toubro added the most in terms of market value, followed by Axis Bank, Asian Paints and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries. On the other hand, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Hindustan Unilever lost the most of their market-cap.
