Gainers and Losers: 10 stocks that moved the most on January 3

The benchmark indices ended lower for the second day on January 3. The Sensex closed down 0.7 percent at 71,356, while the Nifty slipped 0.7 percent to 21,517. About 2,198 shares advanced, 1,638 declined and 109 remained unchanged.

IRCON | CMP Rs 186.3 | The stock gained 6.88 percent after the company announced changes in management. The company said Pramod Kumar Singh, project director for Patna, and Ravi Sahay, chief general manager (civil), ceased to be senior management personnel.

Tata Steel | CMP Rs 135 | Tata Steel fell 3.3 percent after Kotak Institutional Equities downgraded the stock to ‘reduce’, citing expensive valuations after the recent rally and deteriorating fundamentals on margin.

Coal India | CMP Rs 385.6 | Shares of Coal India fell 1.8 percent despite the company recording all-time high volume of 98 million tonnes to non-regulated sector consumers till December in this fiscal.

MOIL | CMP Rs 315.6 | The stock gained 3 percent intraday after the manganese ore producer recorded the highest ever monthly output in December 2023 but squandered the gains to close 0.06 percent lower.

Adani Enterprises | CMP Rs 3005 | Shares of flagship Adani Enterprises and other group stocks gained after the Supreme Court rejected petitions seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or CBI probe into Hindenburg allegations. Adani Enterprises gained 2.48 percent.

Bank of Maharashtra | CMP Rs 47.2 | The Bank of Maharashtra stock gained 3 percent after registering more than 20 percent growth in Q3 gross advances.

Bajaj Auto | CMP Rs 6,968 | The stock surged 5 percent intraday and topped the Rs 7,000-mark after the company’s board announced it would consider share buyback on January 8. The stock ended 4.55 percent higher.

Hero Motocorp | CMP Rs 3,995.05 | Hero Motocorp fell 2.28 percent after the company announced flat sales for December. The company sold 3,93,952 units as against 3,94,179 units, down 0.05 percent from the year-ago period.

RVNL | CMP Rs 185.6 | Shares of RVNL gained 2.65 percent after the company secured a 49 percent stake in the Rs 123.36-crore Varkala Sivagiri project.

D Mart | CMP Rs 3,940 | Shares of DMart retail chain operator Avenue Supermarts fell 3.98 percent despite the standalone revenue increasing 17.19 percent to Rs 13,247.33 crore in Q3.
