Boston police school crossing guard accused of raping children

A Boston police school crossing guard was arrested by Boston detectives on Tuesday and charged in connection with the rape of multiple children.

David Spiers, Boston Police School Traffic Supervisor (crossing guard), was arrested and charged with two counts of rape of a child, and one count of assault with intent to rape a child.Related: Amazon van seriously injures pedestrian, crashes into car in Groton

Officials said Spiers charges are in connection with the assault of two children over a number of years.

Spiers directed school traffic in Dorchesters C-11 district, police said the department employee was put on administrative leave following his arrest.

The Boston Police Department remains committed to transparency and holds all of its employees accountable. The Boston Police Crimes Against Children Unit is currently investigating this incident.

Spiers was arraigned in Dorchester on Wednesday. The judge ordered he be held on $2,000 bail and have no unsupervised contact with children.

The Boston Police Bureau of Professional Standards is aware of this arrest and has opened an investigation into this incident.
